BIBLE -- Association of Christian Schools International (Grades K-6)
 --             Establishes the authority of God¢s Word
--             Provides opportunities for a decision for Christ
--             Approaches each student on his appropriate developmental level
--             Reinforces Bible learning with correlated activities
--             Builds a lifetime base of sound Bible learning
--             Develops academic skills and emphasizes Christian living
--             Strong emphasis on character development
--             Surveys all major sections of Scripture 

READING -- Houghton Mifflin   (Grades K-6)            
 
--             High quality literature-based content with engaging art
--             Children learn to read for meaning
--             Emphasis on comprehension
--             Students learn, practice, apply, and continually expand reading skills
--             Literary skills lead to literature appreciation
--             Resources that meet the broadest possible range of needs 

PHONICS -- Open Court; Houghton Mifflin   (Grades K-3)
 --       Multi-sensory activities to encourage the development of sound and letter knowledge
--            Enhances Reading/Language Arts curriculum
--            Develops fluency in reading
--            Provides additional support in decoding 

ENGLISH (Language) -- Houghton Mifflin   (Grades 2-6)
 
--             Grammar, usage, and mechanics thoroughly taught
--             Easy step-by-step writing program (composition)
--             Frequent vocabulary study
--             Study skills taught and applied (dictionary, encyclopedia, and library skills) 

SPELLING – Houghton Mifflin   (Grades 1-6)
 
--       Builds both strong spelling skills and the related skills that support and expand spelling proficiency: dictionary, proofreading, and vocabulary
--      Teaches children to apply spelling skills to their own writing
--       Spelling patterns and practice in context help students spell better in all curriculum areas
--       Builds vocabulary for reading and writing through words applied in meaningful contexts
--       Incorporates three key strategies:  phonetic or sound-letter relationships, visual imagery and visual memory, and semantic relationships.

HANDWRITING -- Zaner-Bloser   (Grades K-4)
 --             Develops essential handwriting skills sequentially
--             Promotes pride in and encourages good penmanship in all subjects
--             Supports the other language arts, spelling, punctuation, etc. 

MATHEMATICS -- Scott Foresman-Addison Wesley  (Grades K-6)
--            Good continuity of concepts and skills
--            Activity-based in lower elementary
--            Provides a basic program, advanced program, and enrichment
--            Provides many opportunities for practice 

SCIENCE -- Bob Jones University   (Grades K-6)
 
--            Rests on a Christian philosophy of science
--            Offers an action-oriented, hands-on approach
--            Emphasizes the scientific method
--            Provides a broad base of science topics
--            Incorporates abundant Scripture-based background material
--            Uses science to reinforce reading and language arts skills 

SOCIAL STUDIES – Macmillan/McGraw-Hill (Grades K-6)
 
--            Strong patriotic theme with emphasis on becoming responsible citizens
--            Elementary and secondary continuity
--            Covers U.S. and World Geography thoroughly
--            Teaches students to use maps, graphs, and time lines
--            Uses Social Studies to reinforce reading and language arts skills
--            National Geographic Society materials in pupil editions at every level
--            Lessons show students the importance of the past for understanding the present. 

MICHIGAN HISTORY   (Grade 4)
--            Complete study of basic Michigan history
--            Work with state map
--            Biographies of important Michigan people
