Divorce Care for Parents
Nobody hopes their marriage will end in divorce, but divorces happen. Few events in life can be as heart wrenching and life affecting as divorce. It is easy to see why God says He hates it, but please relax. These pages are set up to encourage and inform, not to judge, blame, or condemn.

The intent of these pages is to provide information and tools that can help lessen the impact of your divorce on your kids. Parents that pursue spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical health are far more likely to handle the divorce aftermath in a way that can help their kids build a solid foundation for life and their future relationships.

The parent’s divorce information page is divided into 5 areas:

1)
Information for those individuals who are divorced.

With the rapid and unexpected changes a divorce can bring, people often spend their time just trying to survive from day to day or focusing on their kids so they don’t take the time or see the need to truly heal themselves from the impact of their divorce.

2)    Information for adults whose parents are divorced.

Adults whose parents are divorced are up to 50% more likely to divorce themselves than those from intact families. If an adult child of divorce marries an adult child of divorce, the probability of the marriage ending in divorce goes up to 75%.

3)    Information regarding how divorce can affect your kids.

Up until recent years, it’s been widely claimed that divorce didn’t affect kids long term. However, a large body of research is indicating that kids (and later adults) whose parents are divorced are impacted in a number of ways that makes them far more likely to divorce themselves when compared to their peers who come from families that didn’t break up.

4) Information for those who are thinking about divorce.

One of the most important decisions you will ever make. Please take a moment and read the information below.

5) Information for those thinking about just living together.

The fastest growing trend but not a new idea. Here is some information you wont find in the popular media.

Regardless of what stage you might be at, the key is to always remember to walk through this process with God.  In Jeremiah 29:11 God says,

“For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” NIV

God made us, loves us, and always knows what’s best for us. As crazy as the whole divorce situation can get, God is the unchanging rock we can always trust. Please pray right now that the Lord will use this information in a way that will bring healing and guidance.  Feel free to email Kent Darcie at kdarcie@macombchristianschools.org with any questions or comments.
